Thanks to the refinement of a number of dermatologic techniques,
pigmentation can be treated with a variety of safe, effective procedures
that improve the appearance of a patient's skin and boost the patient's
self-esteem.
Your doctor will design a
combination of treatment approaches based upon type of
pigmentation, medical history and the status of recent clinical studies.
The goals of treatment are to minimize the pigmentation, improve skin
integrity and restore skin radiance to a younger and more youthful look.
Common treatments for managing
pigmentation are:
Non Ablative Laser Rejuvenation
(NALR) treatment

The NALR treatment
distributes laser energy as heat beneath the skin's layers without
affecting the outer layers of the skin (the epidermis). The heat energy
stimulates new cell growth which restores skin integrity and reduces pigmentation.
Intense Pulse
Light (IPL) treatment
The
IPL treatment distributes light energy as heat beneath the skin's layers
without affecting the outer layers of the skin
(the epidermis).
The wavelength and energy level is selected based on
the skin type for selective weakening of of the pigment cells
(melanocytes).

DIODE
laser treatment
The DIODE laser energy
selectively destroys melanin found in the hair follicles, epidermis and
dermis. Pigmentary conditions
such as freckles, sun damage and age spots, especially over large areas
(such as the forearm, chest, back, etc) respond very well to DIODE laser
treatment.
Spot
532 laser treatment
532 nm is an ideal
wavelength to treat epidermal pigmentation such as freckles, solar
lentiges, epidermal melasma, etc.
The 532 nm laser
energy selectively destroys melanin found in the epidermis.

Spot
1064 laser treatment
The 1064 nm laser
energy selectively destroys the tattoo dye or melanin found in the
dermis. While the procedure should not hurt, you may experience a
sensation of heat in the treated areas.
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a new method of managing pigmentation by injecting minute amounts of
pharmaceuticals and skin lightening agents very superficially into the skin. This procedure,
somewhat similar to
tattooing medications onto the skin, is almost painless and helps to lighten
the pigmentation and rejuvenate the skin. Some of the medications (vitamins,
anti oxidants, etc) used in mesotherapy have great anti aging effects on the
skin.
Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis
delivery of Vitamin C substances helps to lighten skin discoloration
such as melasma, post inflammatory pigmentation, sun spots. It also
helps in collagen synthesis and reduces fine lines and scars.
Pharmaceuticals
The medical
doctors will assess your type of pigmentation and prescribe
appropriate pharmaceuticals to further augment the skin lightening
process.
