Skincare treatments for the neck, hand and other parts of the body

Dermato surgeons give equal importance to the skincare concerns on the face, neck, hand and other parts of the body. Some of the common skincare concerns of the body are:

  • Acne, post acne discoloration and scars can occur on the chest, upper back and the shoulders since pilosebaceous units are present at these sites also.

  • As people age, unsightly blemishes, commonly called liver spots, can appear on the face, chest, shoulders and on the back of the hands. Liver spots, also called lentigines or lentigos, are sharply defined, rounded, brown or black, flat patches of skin. Many people have a hereditary predisposition to them. While liver spots may develop at an early age, even in childhood, they are more common in older people, especially those who have spent too much time in the sun.

  • Also, as collagen degenerates with age, the skin over the neck, chest and hands begin to wrinkle and lose its elasticity.

  • Aging hands - Another upsetting change for many mature adults is the loss of elasticity and smoothly contoured hands.

  • Hair removal - more people (both men and women) are interested in a hair free and smooth skin. The DIODE laser offers permanent hair removal results for any part of the body.

The goals of treatment are to minimize the aesthetic concern, improve skin integrity and restore skin radiance to a younger and more youthful look. Common treatment options for the body are:

Non Ablative Laser Rejuvenation (NALR) treatment

The NALR treatment distributes laser energy as heat beneath the skin's layers without affecting the outer layers of the skin (the epidermis). The heat energy stimulates new cell growth which reduces pigmentation and restore skin integrity. NALR can be used to treat acne, scars, post acne discoloration, pigmentation and dull skin over the body.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment

The IPL treatment distributes light energy as heat beneath the skin's layers without affecting the outer layers of the skin (the epidermis). The wavelength and energy level is selected based on the skin type for selective weakening of the pigment cells (melanocytes). This reduces pigmentation and restores the skin integrity. IPL can be used to treat acne, scars, post acne discoloration, pigmentation and dull skin over the body.

DIODE laser treatment

The DIODE laser energy selectively destroys melanin found in the hair follicles, epidermis and dermis. Pigmentary conditions such as freckles, sun damage and age spots, especially over large areas (such as the hand, forearm, chest, back, etc) respond very well to DIODE laser treatment.

Radio Frequency treatment

This technique uses radio frequency energy to heat beneath the skin's layers. The RF energy induces heat within the dermis and stimulate new collagen growth, increase skin firmness and reduce  wrinkles, especially over the neck, décolleté and hands.

Microdermabrasion (MDA)

Microdermabrasion (MDA) is a very common procedure that has been in practice for a few decades to treat most aesthetic conditions such as acne, pigmentation, scars, fine lines, etc. MDA can be used to treat acne, scars and dull skin over the body, such as the back, shoulder, etc.
