" Many people in our society have been conditioned to
regard old age as a time when many functions, such as sexual desire, memory,
physical functions are decreased or even lost. Such drastic changes need not
necessarily be part of the aging process. Proper diet, lifestyle and a positive
mental attitude will overcome most old age symptoms.
Sometimes we give up before
our bodies do"

Aging is a
dynamic process, experienced by every living organism. Part of the aging process
includes the natural death of cells, called apoptosis, which is regulated by the
so called ‘cell death genes’. Aging that results because of apoptosis is
known as primary aging or biological aging. On the other hand, aging because of
extrinsic causes is known as secondary aging. There are several hypotheses
regarding the basic mechanism of aging, but then again scientists claim that
there is no single hypothesis that can actually explain aging. Biological aging
or primary aging is highly influenced by genetics, allowing some people to age
better than others. Primary aging is inevitable.
By far the most significant environmental factor responsible
for secondary aging is sunlight. Another major contributing factor to secondary
aging is the liberation of free radicals in the body. Free radical cycle is
normally triggered off by extensive sunlight exposure, chronic illness,
malnutrition, smoking, spirit (alcohol), stress, malignancy.
Some of
the common signs and symptoms of aging include:
-
General lost of vitality
-
Premature aging
-
Degenerative disorders
-
Insufficiency of the endocrine glands
-
Impaired reproductive & sexual functions
-
Physical and mental exhaustion
-
Impaired immune
system
-
Parkinson's disease
-
Arteriosclerosis
-
Easy fatigue
-
Insomnia
-
Chronic pain
-
Diminution of the intellectual capacity & memory
With recent advancements,
research and clinical work in the field of anti aging medicine, doctors and
scientist have discovered many possibilities to improve the quality of
lifestyle despite aging process. Cell Revitalization Program and Human
Growth Hormone Replacement Therapy has received much attention in the recent
years with regards to their anti aging effects.
However, it is
important to realize that the objective of any anti aging therapy is not to defy
the natural process of aging, but rather to precondition the physical and mental
tasks of the human body to live life to the fullest possible capacity.
