A square-shaped face is medically
known as masseteric muscle hypertrophy, a condition characterized by a bilateral
enlargement of the muscle in the lower jawbone that creates a square-shaped
face. In general, Asians are born with relatively wider square-shaped lower face
than Caucasians. However, a slimmer face is usually more suitable to enhance
delicate Asian features.
Dysport Cosmetic is a non-surgical
procedure for those who desire a slimmer lower face without resorting to
invasive surgical procedures. A small amount of Dysport Cosmetic is injected into the
face using a very fine needle, to relax the masetter muscle. The masetter muscle
bulk will reduce within 2 to 4 weeks, with maximum effects observed 3 months
after the procedure. For a long lasting result, an additional (booster) shot may
be required after the third month.
The end result... a slimmer, oval
facial contour.
The effect of facial recontouring
using Dysport Cosmetic usually
last 12-18 months, depending on the muscle size, habitual clenching and grinding
of the jaws during sleep (bruxism) and excessive chewing of particular food,
such as dried squid and gum.
